Die doel van PMK is om mannekoor en koorsang te bevorder en uit te bou, en om aan enige en alle aktiwiteite wat sodanige doel kan verwesenlik, deel te neem.

Die koor is in 1995 gestig deur Hennie Mentz as voorsitter, Salome Hendriks as dirigent en Marina Mentz as begeleidster.
Vanaf 2001 tot 2007 het Margie Spaumer, vorige dirigent van die SAP Mannekoor (1986 - 1992), as dirigent opgetree.
Vanaf 2008 neem Marina Mentz die leisels oor as dirigent (2008 tot 2019) met Jaco Prinsloo en Stephan Gericke (2008 tot 2017), Kobus Groenewald (2018), Chanie Jonker (2019) en Jannie le Roux (2019) as begeleiers.
In 2020 sluit Annelie van Rooyen aan as dirigent en Marina as voltydse begeleier.
In 2018 tree Hennie Mentz uit as voorsitter, en word deur Paul Marden, Imre Viljoen en Hannes de Wet opgevolg.
Die koor is daarop ingestel om die vreugde van koorsang uit te dra en ons spits ons toe op liedere spesiaal gekomponeer vir mannekore asook verwerkings vir mannekoor. Die koor het reeds in sy eerste jaar 'n paar hoogtepunte beleef o.a. konserte in Pretoria, Lichtenburg en Amersfoort, saam met Eddie Davey en sy Musica Festiva span. In sy kort bestaan het die koor aan verskeie mannekoorfeeste deelgeneem en saam met soliste soos Rudi Neitz, Daniël Verster, Rocco de Villiers, Hannetjie van Zuydam, Mimi Coertze, Heinz Winckler, Nadine, Jannie Moolman, Coenie de Villiers en Piet Smit opgetree. Die koor tree ook gereeld op uitnodiging by aftree-oorde en tydens eredienste in kerke op. Kerk optredes word in oorleg met die betrokke predikant beplan sodat dit 'n integrale deel van die liturgie vorm.
Die koor het reeds 4 CD's uitgereik met 'n verskeidenheid werke op van Schubert, Chris Lamprecht en vele meer.
In die afgelope paar jaar het die koor opgetree in Pretoria, Alberton, Boksburg, Brakpan, Bronkhorstspruit, Groblersdal, Hartbeesfontein, Emalahleni (Witbank), Kemptonpark, Oudtshoorn, Rustenburg, Sun City en Wes-Rand. Daar is gereelde deelname aan koorfeeste o.a. onder leiding van Richard Cock. Daar was ook heelwat optredes by aftree-oorde, kerkfeeste en herdenkings sowel as reünies.
In 2019 bied die Pretoria Mannekoor "Songs of Joy" aan saam met Richard Cock en 6 ander mannekore.
In 2018 en 2019 behaal die Pretoria Mannekoor Prestige Sertifikate by die Allegretto Eisteddfod en lewer in beide jare verskeie items by die Gala Aand in Emalahleni waar hulle 'n trofee ontvang vir die mees veelsydigste koor.
In 2013 het die koor deelgeneem aan die Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees (KKNK) in Oudtshoorn.
In 2012 het die koor deelgeneem aan 'n opera uitvoering van Faust van Gounod aangebied in die Brooklyn teater in Pretoria.
Na Covid in 2020 het die koor van krag tot krag gegaan en gegroei tot sy meeste aantal lede ooit. Verskeie optredes is in en om Pretoria gehou, o.a. saam met Coenie de Villiers en Piet Smit.
Die koor ontvang talle uitnodigings om ook op die platteland op te tree en poog om soveel as moontlik van hierdie uitnodigings te aanvaar en sodoende ook die vreugde van koormusiek buite die grense van Pretoria uit te dra.

From 2001 to 2007, Margie Spaumer, former conductor of the SAP Male Choir (1986–1992), served as conductor.

In 2018, Hennie Mentz stepped down as chairperson, and was succeeded by Paul Marden, Imre Viljoen, and Hannes de Wet.
The choir is dedicated to sharing the joy of choral singing and focuses on works specially composed for male choirs as well as arrangements for male voices. The choir experienced several highlights in its very first year, including concerts in Pretoria, Lichtenburg, and Amersfoort, together with Eddie Davey and his Musica Festiva team. In its short existence, the choir has participated in various male choir festivals and performed with soloists such as Rudi Neitz, Daniël Verster, Rocco de Villiers, Hannetjie van Zuydam, Mimi Coertze, Heinz Winckler, Nadine, Jannie Moolman, Coenie de Villiers, and Piet Smit.
The choir also regularly performs at retirement homes and during church services by invitation. Church performances are planned in consultation with the minister to ensure they form an integral part of the liturgy.
The choir has released four CDs featuring a variety of works by composers such as Schubert, Chris Lamprecht, and many more.
In recent years, the choir has performed in Pretoria, Alberton, Boksburg, Brakpan, Bronkhorstspruit, Groblersdal, Hartbeesfontein, Emalahleni (Witbank), Kempton Park, Oudtshoorn, Rustenburg, Sun City, and the West Rand. There is regular participation in choir festivals, including those conducted by Richard Cock. Numerous performances have also been given at retirement centres, church festivals, commemorative events, and reunions.
In 2019, the Pretoria Male Choir presented “Songs of Joy” together with Richard Cock and six other male choirs.
In 2018 and 2019, the Pretoria Male Choir received Prestige Certificates at the Allegretto Eisteddfod and performed various items at the Gala Evening in Emalahleni in both years, receiving a trophy for the most versatile choir.
In 2013, the choir participated in the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival (KKNK) in Oudtshoorn.
In 2012, the choir took part in an operatic performance of Gounod’s Faust at the Brooklyn Theatre in Pretoria.
After COVID in 2020, the choir has gone from strength to strength and has grown to its largest membership ever. Various performances have been held in and around Pretoria, including collaborations with Coenie de Villiers and Piet Smit.
The choir receives many invitations to perform in rural areas and aims to accept as many of these as possible, sharing the joy of choral music beyond the borders of Pretoria.
